About Online Ordering

Fast, convenient shopping 24 hours a day. Before you begin your order, log in to your log-in profile. This allows your order to be saved until you complete or delete the order. If you shop as a “guest” (without logging in) your order will be saved for approximately 20 minutes.

You can browse product categories using the navigation menus, search for a specific product by name, item number, or keyword, or type item numbers and quantities into the Catalog Quick Shop Form. Your online order will be downloaded the following business day.

International Orders

Shipping charges are determined by the size, weight, and final destination of the order; we cannot determine actual shipping charges until the order has been placed. After your order has been placed, we will email the shipping charge and merchandise total to the email address provided. After you reply with your approval, your order will be processed, billed and shipped.

  • Must be prepaid in U.S. dollars.
  • Minimum order: $100 (U.S.) merchandise total.
  • Special handling fee applies to every international order.
  • Out-of-stock items will be canceled.
  • Some items may not be available for export.
  • Duties and Value Added Taxes are the customer’s responsibility.

Out-of-Stock Items

Our online inventory is updated daily; however, it is not a “real time” inventory. As a result, it is possible for an item to go out-of-stock after you place your order. Should this occur, the item will be placed on backorder.

  • In most cases, backordered items will be sent when all out-of-stock items are available; your in-stock items will arrive first, followed by one later delivery of all backordered items.
  • Your credit card will not be charged for backordered items until sent; no additional shipping charges will be added when we send the backordered items.
  • On the invoice enclosed with your order, for each item on the order, the invoice column marked QOR shows how many were ordered; the column marked QSH shows how many were shipped; the column marked QBO shows how many are on backorder.
  • If an item was partially filled, you will see a number in both the QBO and QSH columns.
  • If we shipped none of an item, it will be listed at the end of your packing slip/invoice and you will see a zero in the QSH column.
  • If you would rather we not place out-of-stock items on backorder for you, please use the Special Instructions box (Payment Method page) to tell us your preference.
  • Sometimes circumstances beyond our control affect availability, therefore, we reserve the right to cancel any backorder.

Drop-Ship Items

Some items are shipped directly to you from the manufacturer. Drop-Ship items may not be sent by an expedited or express shipping method; only Regular Ground shipping is available for these items. Some Drop-Ship items (see product page) may be shipped only within the contiguous U.S.

Hassle-Free Returns

Occasionally orders arrive not as expected. Our intention is to remedy such situations as quickly as possible.

Returns? Exchanges? You can count on a prompt and courteous exchange or refund of the merchandise purchase price.

  • Return merchandise promptly. Please follow the instructions on the back of the packing slip.
  • Send via trackable parcel post, UPS, or FedEx.
  • Ship back your return item at your expense. We will incur shipping charges for replacing an exchange item.
  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable.
  • Call Customer Service (888-274-4003 M-F, 8-4:30 Pacific Time) for additional assistance; please have your invoice ready when you call.

Damaged Item? Please let us know immediately if you receive a damaged item.

  • Keep the original shipping carton, as well as all packing materials. Please do not return the item to us unless we ask you to send it back.

Wrong Item? Please contact us immediately if you believe you have received the wrong item.

  • Despite our best efforts, occasionally we make mistakes. We will incur all return shipping charges for our errors.

Payment Information

We accept checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. For your protection, all credit card orders must include the CVV security code from your card. Credit cards will not be charged until the order is shipped. Official Purchase Orders must be faxed or mailed; we cannot accept Purchase Orders online.

Paying with a Gift Credit Card? Our system can only accept gift credit cards that have been registered for online purchases. Before you place your order, please contact the card issuer to find out how to register your gift credit card for online purchases; look for a toll-free number printed on the card. Please check to be sure your gift credit card balance is enough to cover the full amount of your order, including shipping. We cannot process a declined gift credit card order until we contact you and you provide a different credit card.

Credit Vouchers & Discount Promotions

You may use these credits online. When you place your online order, please record the Credit Voucher number and amount, or the promotion keycode in the Special Instructions box on the Payment Method page. Credits will be applied after we receive your online order.

Redeeming Gift Certificates

Whether purchased online or by mail, phone, or fax, Gift Certificates may be redeemed with any subsequent order. Please be aware that our online order software cannot deduct the Gift Certificate amount automatically. We must adjust your order total after we receive the online order. We need the Gift Certificate number to adjust your Order Total. When you redeem a Gift Certificate online, please record the Gift Certificate number in the Special Instructions box on the Payment Method page.
If your online order combines a Gift Certificate and a credit card payment, the Gift Certificate amount will be deducted before you are billed, so long as you provide the Gift Certificate number. Credit cards are not billed until the order is shipped.

Purchasing Gift Certificates

Gift Certificates are available online in the following increments: $25, $50, $75, $100, $200, $500. Purchase online Gift Certificate now. If you cannot achieve the amount you need using these increments, please phone our toll-free Orders/Customer Service line to order: 877-975-3003 M-F, 8-4:30 Pacific Time.
Gift Certificates arrive with a catalog, and can be shipped directly to the recipient. Gift Certificates ship free of charge and are not subject to sales tax. They do not expire. Gift Certificates are not redeemable for cash. If your order total is less than the Gift Certificate total, you may use the remaining Gift Certificate balance on a subsequent order, however we will not send you an updated Gift Certificate.

Pre-Approved Billing

Pre-Approved billing accounts with terms are available only for schools, school districts, teacher training centers, and other organizations.

The school’s billing account must be set up before choosing the “Existing School Billing Account” payment method for an order. If your school does not have a pre-existing billing account set up before we receive your order, your order will be delayed.

To apply for a school pre-approved billing account, download a credit application (PDF), complete it, and submit by mail as directed on the application. If you would rather set your school’s account up by phone, please first email account@montessoriservices.com with the school’s complete mailing address, fax number, phone number, and best time to call. We make every effort to return your call as soon as possible.

Product Safety

Safety is as important to us as it is to you. Most of us are parents ourselves — we choose items for Montessori Services and For Small Hands as if for our own homes. Whether an item is made in the U.S.A. or imported from Europe, Africa, Asia, or South America, we are fully committed to working with reputable businesses who stand behind the safety of their items.

We only consider items with safe, non-toxic finishes. Our kitchen items are always safe for food. In the rare event that a safety concern arises, we will recall the item without delay.

Of course, adult discretion and supervision are necessary when children are using items that are breakable, sharp, or contain small parts which could pose a hazard to young children.
